Aardvark, Fast Flip shut by Google
California based Mountain View has said that Fast Flip would gradually be removed from Google Labs and News in ensuing days. Google further stated that experimenting with Fast Flip for the last couple of years led to a faster enriched content that were displayed over Internet. In this statement it continued to thank several US publishers who participated in browsing new contents and sharing reading experiences for mobile appliances and Web usage.
BBC, Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, and The Christian Science Monitor partnered with Google for Fast Flip. Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Elle, Atlantic, and Popular Mechanics are companies that regularly supplied contents to Google. Online news sites that contributed to Google for Fast Flip include Slate, Salon, and TechCrunch.
By using Fast Flip users are capable of browsing through news and stories at significantly higher speeds as compared to the time it takes for loading a page on the Web.
Damon Horowitz and Max Ventilla, co-founders of Aardvark, stated in a blog post named ‘Goodbye Aardvark’ that services of Fast Flip would close by September end. Aardvark established in 2007, was acquired by Google in February 2010 against a price of US $50 million as declared by TechCrunch, a technology blog. The cofounders took this opportunity to say that Aardvark which began on an experimental basis grew to become a service connecting millions.
